BS Sport Management
This program will prepare students to work in fitness and wellness settings including gyms, fitness clubs, spas, corporate fitness, strength coaching, and high school and collegiate athletics. Students pursuing the program will be prepared to sit for several health/fitness certifications offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
BS Legal Studies
The unique subject matter included in the curriculum attracts a wide array of students and is applicable to a variety of fields. Paralegals, court clerks and support personnel, future law students, real estate practitioners, business people, and a host of other professionals will find the subject matter both practical and challenging.
Graduate
Superintendent Letter of Eligibility
The program provides an opportunity for a graduate student to obtain certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a superintendent. All faculty members have extensive experience as teachers and administrators in area public schools. The knowledge base for leadership training emphasizes the types of problems faced by the chief school administrator and the preventative measures and diagnostic techniques necessary to resolve these problems.
MS Exercise Science
The university has worked closely with the National Academy of Sports Medicine to develop outstanding course content. Four distinct tracks are available for this degree: Wellness and Fitness; Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention; Rehabilitation Science; and Sport Psychology.
The same four tracks are available as post-master's certificate for those who already have a graduate degree in a related field (such as exercise science, psychology, physical education, nursing, teaching or athletic training.)
- Wellness and Fitness Track Description
This program is designed for the health and fitness professional, personal trainer, educator, military professional, coach, and others who want to learn about fitness training program design and wellness programs. Courses cover wellness programs and recent trends. Upon completion, students are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine certification.
- Sport Performance Training & Injury Prevention Track Description
This innovative program is for people who want to learn about performance and fitness training program design. Research, sport performance training, and injury prevention will be covered. Students enrolled in this track are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine certification.
- Rehabilitation Science Track Description
This health care-focused track is designed for those with a background in rehabilitation settings. Research, current issues, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and biomechanical assessment will be a focus of the courses. Students enrolled in this track are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine certification.
- Sport Psychology Track Description
This program is designed for those looking to gain knowledge about sport psychology tactics and an all-inclusive approach to recovery. Courses provide information on identifying precursors to injury, the affects of injury, rehabilitation and recovery. Also covered are performance enhancements, intervention methods, and incorporate referrals.
MS Legal Studies: Homeland Security
This program presents an interesting curriculum that prepares supervisory personnel to tackle the many challenges inherent in the protection of a nation. It allows justice professionals, health specialists and legal specialists, to concentrate on the methodology of security in this narrow context.
MS Legal Studies: Public Policy
The program is directed at those who labor in law, beyond the usual targets of judges and lawyers, and delivers a highly sophisticated legal education that leads to greater levels of understanding and responsibility. This program will help you strive for personal, intellectual, occupational and professional perfection.
MS Sport Management Studies
The emphasis of the program is on preparing students for positions of management and leadership within the sport industry. The program recognizes the need for developing the student's capacity to solve many problems arising from ever-changing economic difficulties, political and regulatory conditions, and marketing strategies. Students study and discuss real-life scenarios to ensure their competency in today's competitive sport industry.
MS in Sport Management- IAA track:
The Intercollegiate Athletic Administration Track was designed in response to request from high school coaches and athletic directors who plan on pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics, and to meet the needs of current junior college and university coaches and administrators who seek to maximize their leadership and management effectiveness in current or future positions.
The specialized classes have been designed to provide practical learning experiences for those wishing to pursue a career in athletic administration. The courses have been designed in consultation with the NCAA to provide the fundamental skills necessary to function effectively in an intercollegiate athletic department.
MS in Sport Management-Generalist Track (Mentorship):
The Sport Mentorship experience provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the ability to apply sport management theory and principles in the practical setting. Students are afforded the flexibility to select the site in which they will complete their mentorship, or they may work with California University Sport Management Studies faculty in selecting a site. Students are often able to complete the mentorship in their current places of employment. All mentorship sites are subject to approval by the Sport Management Studies Program Coordinator.
Facilities & Event Management:
The Facilities & Event Management Track was designed to give students the ability to understand the principles of sport facility planning, design, and management. Students will examine functions related to design, construction, systems and operations, marketing and sales, budgeting, human resources, and security. The courses will build a knowledge base on topics, such as, cost control, revenue streams, personnel, media relations, crisis control, security, and marketing. This track will also provide insight into the important principals of risk assessment and technology application management of sports facilities and events.
Intercollegiate Athletic Administration
This program was designed in response to a request from high school coaches and athletic directors who plan on pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics, and to meet the needs of current junior college and university coaches and administrators who seek to maximize their leadership and management effectiveness in current or future positions.
MA Tourism
This program will prepare students for careers in tourism research, planning, and development, and will appeal to professionals within the tourism field who have a commitment to lifelong learning, as well as students with undergraduate degrees in tourism or related disciplines such as business, economics, management, marketing, international studies, parks and recreation, planning or geography. This program is structured for completion within 16 to 24 months.

Advanced Secondary Education
Graduates of this program will have a deeper understanding of instructional strategies, action research, instructional technology, differentiated instruction, classroom management, assessment strategies, teacher leadership, curriculum design, and reflective practices. At the completion of this program, graduates will have a head start if they decide to apply for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification.
Principal Certification
This is the ideal program for working professionals who want to make a difference in education. The program is a practice-centered, performance-based program that is designed to provide a personalized approach in meeting the needs of each student whether they are seeking a principal's certificate, a master's degree in education, or simply wish to continue to enhance their teaching and leadership skills.
M.Ed. with Principal Certification
This is a part-time, online program for public school teachers who are seeking an M.Ed. in Education with Specialization in K-12 Pennsylvania Principal Certification. If a student already holds a master's degree, he or she may complete K-12 Pennsylvania Principal Certification, 24 credits, without completing the entire master's program. Out-of-state students are welcome but should first contact their state education department for further information regarding certification requirements and reciprocity agreements.
M.Ed. Early Childhood Education
The curriculum is aligned with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards. Graduate students in the early childhood education degree program will apply knowledge of child development, families, and best teaching practices to a variety of educational settings including public schools pre-kindergarten to grade four primary programs, preschool programs, Head Start, child care, parenting and family support programs. The program is open to students with a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree with elementary, early childhood, or special education teaching certification. Previous teaching experience is not required, but teaching certification is required for admission.
M.Ed. National Board Teacher Certification Prep.
The curriculum is aligned with National Board for Professional Teaching Standard's (NBPTS) Five Core Propositions and the certification standards which will prepare teachers for National Board Teacher Certification. The program provides the substance for meaningful learning experiences that require teachers to demonstrate what they know and can do while developing knowledge and skills that emphasize content, pedagogy, inquiry, reflection, leadership, and collegiality. The program is open to students with a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree with elementary, early childhood, or special education teaching certification. Previous teaching experience is not required, but teaching certification is required for admission.
M.Ed. English as a Second Language
The curriculum is aligned with Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) standards. Graduate students in the English as a Second Language degree program will apply knowledge in the following domains: language, culture, instruction, assessment, and professionalism. In each of these domains educators will be challenged to develop professionalism in language education, promote individual language rights, provide accessible and high quality education, develop collaboration in a global community, engage in research and reflective practice for educational improvement, and cultivate a respect for diversity and multiculturalism. The program is open to students with a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree with elementary, early childhood, or special education teaching certification. Previous teaching experience is not required, but teaching certification is required for admission.
M.Ed. Technology Education
The mission of this degree is to continue the professional development of teachers and leaders in the field of technology education by providing the students with a broad-based understanding of the field and its direction. Technology education is a vital aspect of education for all students at all levels in Pennsylvania, as well as many additional states and countries. It promotes the development of technologically literate citizens by studying the broad spectrum of technology.

This innovative track is designed for the health / fitness professional, personal trainer, educator, military professional, coach, and others who want to learn about performance and fitness training program design for athletes and other physically active people. Research and current issues in sport performance training and injury prevention will be a focus of the courses. Students enrolled in this track are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification.
Wellness and Fitness
In response to great demand, this recently developed track is designed for the health / fitness professional, personal trainer, educator, military professional, coach, and others who want to learn about fitness training program design and wellness programs for the general population. Research and current issues in the fitness industry, as well as, wellness programs will be a focus of the courses. Students enrolled in this track are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification.
Rehabilitation Science
This health care focused track is designed for the health / fitness professional that has a background in rehabilitation settings such as athletic training rooms, physical therapy clinics, chiropractic offices, and other treatment settings. Research and current issues in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and biomechanical assessment will be a focus of the courses. Students enrolled in this track are prepared to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification.
Sport Psychology
The Sport Psychology Track is designed for the health / fitness professional, personal trainer, educator, military professional, coach, and others to gain knowledge from the psychological perspective to enhance their current practice behavior and use an all-inclusive approach to recovery. Courses will provide information to assist the health care professionals and others to identify precursors to injury, affects of injury and rehabilitation and recovery, performance enhancement and intervention methods, and incorporate referrals.
